New Feature: Interview Buddies
We job seekers have to stick together! A great way to do this is to help each other practice interviewing. Now you can become an Interview Buddy on Happy Job Search and request practice with your fellow job seekers.
Practicing interviews is one of the best ways to prepare for a real interview. Some of the benefits include:
- You’ll be more relaxed, as you’ll be better prepared
- You’ll be less likely to be “caught” by uncomfortable questions
- Your partner’s feedback can help you improve
I hope you find this new feature useful. Let me know how you’re liking it, and how it can be improved. Also, feel free to request practice with me - my username is “danielhigginbotham”.

This looks really useful. I am not unemployed at the moment…but I might be
I found you through the Scobelizer site.
Three Thoughts
I think it is great that you have made this a free service. But maybe you should consider a donation button that people who find a job with this sites help can put something back.
Secondly a forum might be useful. For help and success stories. While not unemployed at the moment I have been laid off twice. There is nothing like a success story to keep body and soul going.
Thirdly. I have no idea how hard this would be, but some connection with 37 Signals Highrise application might be useful for some.

Thanks for suggestions Nick!
For now I think I’m going to refrain from putting a donate button on the site. It does actually cost me about $20/month to run, however, so maybe I’ll put one up in the future.
I really like your suggestion about adding a forum. It definitely helps to commiserate, get advice, and read success stories, as you mention. Hopefully I’ll be able to add that in the next month or two. HJS seems like a great place to grow a community. That’s not meant to be self-serving, it’s just that I think a bunch of people looking to better manage the job search process would really benefit from talking to each other.
In the mean time, if anyone has a success story, please do email me (daniel@flyingmachinestudios.com) and I’ll post it here.
For the third suggestion, I don’t know how hard it would be, either. Right now that’s a “someday maybe” project. It’s a good suggestion though. I’d just rather implement other features first.
Thanks again! It’s really motivating for me to get feedback like this.

This is a great concept. I am a career coach so this would be a great resource for me to refer clients to check out. I am going to subscribe so I can keep in contact and see how it is going.

This is brilliant idea! Although I have personally not tried tagging someone with me during an interview. But this is really a good idea since it prevents the nervous feeling if you can be chatting with someone while waiting for your interview to start. =) This post kinda reminds me of the blog http://www.integritycareertransitions.com/blog/ which gave pretty cool tips (some of which i didn’t know!), regarding finding your job.
